Melodramas

If define action pictures as strictly as male genre we may define melodrama as strictly female genre as it combines everything the woman need. Melodrama usually describes tough life of the main character, usually life full of sufferings, unanswered love, loneliness and so on and so forth, in two words everything one may cry about. The plot of melodramatic pictures is more contrived than one of the action pictures, and sure there's no lack of dialogues as the core of the film are profound ideas about life, sense of life, love etc. Actually the fact that the main distinction between such female and male movie genres displays the main difference between men and women, and may give the answer for question about eternal misunderstood between them. Women usually complain about lack of attention of her man and get mad because he said "I love you" just twice a day but not hundred times like she would prefer.

The difference between those two genres vividly shows the difference between men and women, women concentrates their attention on expressing of their feelings and on the details, but men don't like to talk about love they prefer to show it through their deeds, and that is the core of the eternal misunderstood between men and women. It's easy to realize but hard to follow. The lack of emotions women feel they fill with melodramas, as melodrama contains everything: a thousand declarations of love, a thousand meetings and separations, spiritual suffering about unanswered love and life away from beloved person. It's a rare occurrence when melodrama picture has a happy and as with happy and woman may stay unsatisfied as she will feel the lack of sufferings, but on the other hand if the script writer won't join to loving hearts together woman may feel offended and will not buy films of the same director again. So, another eternal problem "What do the woman need?".

The "P.S. I love you" is a perfect example of melodrama genre picture. There was a great love, love that may occur once in the life and not in everyone's life. It wouldn't be a melodrama if such a great love have ended with growing up children and growing old together, sure there should be a suffering otherwise it's not a melodrama. So, here the sufferings come, he got sick with cancer and died, she left alone with her pain and pictures in which they look so happy together. And so she suffers, she suffers for the whole week long, then for the whole month long and then for the whole autumn long. Meanwhile came the day of her birthday and she received a message from him. That message contains rules of behavior for her rules that are obligatory for following to save her from the depression. And so she keep receiving such messages and step by step gets out of the depression, than a great cry as she finally realize that he's gone and the beginning of new life. Final: no more messages, she still loves him but don't suffer anymore and she is ready for new relationships....with his best friends as her dead husband considered him the best man on the world. Everyone is happy, everyone is pleased. Curtain. Women cry. Total happiness.
