Crime genre pictures are films based on criminal stories whether real of fictional. Those are the films the core of which is different kinds of criminal activity like rubbery, smuggling, murdering and so on and so forth. Activity of maniacs and psycho is usually never considered as a base or plot for criminal genre pictures, as such kind of crimes belongs to criminal psychiatry and pictures based on stories about that crimes are usually considered as psycho-thrillers. So, what kinds of crimes in that case are usually taken for producing crime genre pictures? Those kinds of crimes that deals with rubbery and gangsters and has nothing to do with different kinds of psycho-murders. In fact, as a rule, those are the crimes committed in 30-40s at United States. Those may be the real historical facts about real gangsters and the crimes they committed of fiction stories about criminals that have never existed.
According to that feature criminal genre films may be divided into two groups. To the first group belong criminal films that are based on real events and those films for convenience may be called as historically-criminal pictures. The second group is the group to which belong criminal films based on fictional stories about fictional criminals; these for convenience may be called as criminal fiction. Historically-criminal pictures describes events that took place at the USA of criminal 40ths and reveals all the details of those events that were kept in secrete before, including some deeds of government and reasons that resulted certain situation. Crime fiction reveals the events that have never occurred at the real life, those are just the result of creative work of writer or scripter.
As an example of fiction criminal picture one may consider the "Pulp Fiction". This films of no doubt belongs to criminal genre as events that marches in that film are developed around criminal activity of two the most powerful gangs, but those gangs have never existed at that is the reason why that film considered to be the criminal fiction. Actually the title of this film speaks for itself. Year 2007 was the year when the "American Gangster" historical-criminal genre picture got in the can. This film is a vivid example of the historical-criminal picture as it describes the real events of the real gangster's life. It was a guy who at first was an assistant of well-known gangster of that time and after his death Frank Lucas became the drug lord of the city, as he was smart enough to grasp the authority of the city on his own. Soon Frank created the whole empire and proclaimed himself as a lord of that empire. Frank Lucas wasn't just a fiction it was real living gangster who finally were caught and sentenced to seven years of penal confinement.
