Not hard to be that pictures of battle genre describes events of any past wars and battles. The battles and wars that are described in these films may be of both kinds historical or fictional. Actually those that are considered to be as fictional not necessary really fictional, those may be the mythical or epical battles that are not totally confirmed neither disapproved. Still, in most cases the films of battle genre describes historical events, reproduces the actions and spirit of the war or battle and of the time it was held at. Together with the films of catastrophe genre the battle pictures are the most large-budgetary films among all others, as reproducing of spirit of the war-time demands detailed reproducing of appropriate weapon, outfit and landscape. In case if the producer of the film will economize means for film the necessary spirit and mood of the film and age will be unable for reproducing and if so the film undergoes a risk to trespass to the parody genre.
In its turn battle genre is divided into marine-battle genre, epic-battle genre, air-battle genre and land-battle genre. Film of marine-battle genre describes battles and wars that were held between navies of different armies. Creation of such films demands less sceneries but more cam-equipment, so they as expensive as the battle genre is considered. Pictures that are belonging to epic-battle genre describe battles that may never occur. Those are the films based on epic stories and myth like "The 300 Spartans".
"The 300 Spartans" were first produced in 1962, it describes the events of the Battle of Thermopylae, the Battle between Spartans and Greece that wanted to turn Sparta to colony. Spartans fought for their independency and that was a great battle that took a lot of lives. Later in 2006 brand new "The 300 Spartans" appeared on screens of the cinema's and stroke with special effects. Film industry greatly developed in forty-three years so there is a great difference between those two films. The only common feature of those two pictures is a plot of the movies. Both pictures depict the same battle in the same details, but the second one captures viewers' attention thanks to its special effects. Rather large sum of money was spent on producing this film, and rather great income it brought. Still it's not the money that is valuable in this film and worth attention but the plot.
Some people prefer the earlier variant of depicting of the great fight for independency as they say that 1962 picture reveals more historical facts and if so may say much more information from the historical point if view. Many men many minds, and there are also those who consider the picture of year 2006 the masterpiece of the battle genre. Upon their words special effects used in that film strokes both imagination and mind, it captures the attention of the viewer.
