Sport in our life became the sphere of great importance as in nowadays conditions of sedentary life sport is the activity that helps us to keep in fit. There is a great variety of sport like football, tennis, swimming, hockey, horse riding etc. Moreover, sport is rather profitable sphere and that is another reason why it drew attention of picture producers and people. If you will take a good look on life that surrounds you, you will notice that sportsmen are the second category of celebrities (after movie-stars) you see everywhere: on bill-boards, on the TV, magazines and newspapers. According to these facts one may make a conclusion that athletes are nowadays persons of great importance and influence, as no advertising company would chose them as an emblematic person for one or another company or good.
As sport became so popular and of great demand the athletic pictures were set to producing. Pictures of athletic genre are the pictures that describe different kinds of sport or sport-life of some sportsmen. Usually in this genre's films describe so to say traditional kinds of sports, other words pictures about extreme kinds of sports are don't belong to this genre, those films formed their own genre called extreme genre. Athletic genre films describe those kinds of sport that have been known for a long time and have its iconic and emblematic persons. Those kinds of sport are box, football, rugby, hockey, tennis, golf etc. Sometimes the plot of the film is developed not around the kind of sport but around the life of famous sportsman. One may say that in this case it's not an athletic picture but biography but it's not quite right. Sure there are some elements of the biography genre picture but there is also a great difference between these two genres. The biography picture mostly reveals facts of the private life of celebrity but in the athletic picture about single taken sportsman the greater attention is paid for athletic progress of the sportsman, and most scenes of the film are devoted for competitions and contests.

This is the picture about the famous boxer Jim Braddock and his privet and athletic life. Sure in this film not only athletic success and progress of Braddock are described, there are also facts of his private life, and still those facts are necessary as the part of his case study.
